Fun day with Nama and Kylie!

We had early dismissal at school today (2pm), so Nama picked me up, we played with Mia and read a story, then headed to the pool!  I was really excited to see Kylie from my class was at the pool too and we got to play together.  We played in the pool and at the playground!  Look at me being a dare devil standing on the swing...just like Kylie!  It was fun to play...thanks Nama for taking me and taking these pictures!

Come on ring that bell....

Well, we have been taking a training tip out of the Peanut Bandito Stilley playbook and have tried to teach Mia to ring a bell every time we go outside to go potty...and GUESS WHAT???  Today she rang the bell 2 times and went potty outside BOTH times!

Pretty impressive for a 9 week old puppy we have been training this way for 7 days!  Now, we are going to place bells ALL OVER THE HOUSE so she rings the bell when we are upstairs and does not pee on the carpet!  Fingers crossed!

An email from Mrs. Richardson!!!

Mommy sent Mrs. Richardson this email:

Hi Courtney,
How can I get Kate's name updated in the school files? She let me know that her
name is noted as Katie in all classes and school stuff (except your class). She
would love for it to be updated to Kate.

Thanks so much!
Anne Horton

Ps....she is loving kindergarten, her class and you!

KATE (not Katie)

Mrs. Richardson calls me Kate in her class, all my classmates call me Kate, but for some reason my name is listed as "Katie" in all the school stuff and other class stuff.  They call me Katie is gym, Katie in music, Katie in computers, Katie in library, Katie in Spanish and even Katie in art.  I do not want to be called Katie (mommy doesn't either), but I have not yet corrected any of my teachers.  I complained to mom about it on Friday and she already sent a note to Mrs. Richardson asking her if she could help us get everyone to call me Kate.  We shall see!!!

Hot lunch!

I really like to buy hot lunch at school.  Mom and Dad let me do it once a week and I love to pick out just the right day to do it.  The first week I got a hamburger, a banana, Doritos's, water and chocolate milk....yummy! This week I got a hot dog, banana, pickles, chocolate milk and water.  It is so cool to buy it like an adult...even with my very own credit card!  Mom reminds me to make healthy choices...BORING!

1st Homework EVER!!!

Every Friday I get STAR homework assignments emailed to mom and dad.  It is not mandatory, but really helps me practice what I learned all week long.  I got my first homework this Friday and we just did it a few minutes ago (it is going to be a tradition to do it every weekend).

Assignment:
1.  Gather homework tools (3 pencils, scissors, glue stick, crayons) and a container to put them in. - Done...had to go to Target for glue sticks!
2. Find a spot where you will do homework at all the time. - Done...I picked the craft room table and set all my stuff there.
3.  Write your first name 3 times - Done...capital K and lowercase a,t,e. We practiced this a bunch of times as I want to master my lowercase letters
4.  Draw a picture of you at your homework spot - Done...I drew the craft room table and me and mom around it.  I even drew the stuff on the center of the table!
5.  Cut out the curved and curved dash lines with your scissors. - Done...mom was super surprised at how good I am at scissors!

I really like my homework and can't wait to show Mrs. Richardson how great I did!

First soccer game of the season!

I had my first soccer practice of the season on Tuesday night at 5pm and my first game yesterday morning bright and early at 8am!  I am on the light blue team - we have not yet given ourselves a name!

I played really well and even almost scored a goal.  Trouble is, I get so excited when I kick the ball I look at mom and dad (and anyone who may be there to watch me....Papa yesterday) to see if they are excited too and, well, someone else takes the ball.  Oh well!  I do have lots of fun playing soccer!  Now I am learning all about hustling and going after that ball!

P.S. Did you notice I am #13 again!!!  2 years in a row - lucky 13!  This may have to be my sports number ALL the time!

Timbercreek Colts!

On Friday we had school spirit day and everyone wore their class t-shirts.  Each class is a certain color and Kindergarten is green!  We also had all school picture day where we line up by class and make a huge rainbow!  A man was standing on the school roof to take our pictures!  This picture gets blown up really big and put in the entrance of the school for everyone to see!

I sure love my school!  Go Timbercreek Colts!

The other night Daddy, mommy, Nama and I all went to 801 Chophouse for a DELICIOUS fancy meal!  Nama and I met mommy and daddy there and I got all fancy for the night!

We had such yummy food - steak, mac 'n cheese, green beans, asparagus, blue cheese potatoes, cheesy hash browns.....lots of great food!  It was such a fun night!

Mia update

Mia is adjusting well to our house and has even started to sleep better!  In the beginning she was screaming at the top of her lungs for long periods of time when we would all go to bed.  But, believe it or not.....Mia slept through the night last night!  Woohoo!

She did have major tummy problems Friday and Saturday where she had really bad diarrhea and we were really worried about her.  Luckily, she is better today and is back to her old self of chasing and biting me when she gets CRAZY and taking lots of naps.

Here she is liking her bed and crate.  We have not yet closed the door on the crate but she willingly goes in and rests.  She is so cute!

Sunday Visitors...

Thanks to little Miss Mia we had 3 different sets of Sunday visitors!!  Yippee!  First, Aunt Jenny, Uncle Rob, Anna, Ashley and Abby came over to play in the backyard and see the little girl!  They loved her and can't wait for her and Peanut to play!!

This afternoon Nama and Papa came over and we sat outside and played with Mia.  We even had happy hour....good idea daddy and enjoyed the beautiful afternoon in the back yard!

Then, later this afternoon Miss Lori, Sydney and Ella came over.  They got to meet and hold Mia and then we played in my new bedroom.  We danced and jumped on the bed...totally cool!

I would love to have this many visitors every Sunday!  Thanks for coming to see Mia (and us)!!!

Introducing.....Mia Horton

It took many hours of thinking and re-thinking, but we finally landed on the name Mia (middle name to come).  We had narrowed it down to Mia, Maya and Maggie....all adorable. I was able to chose the name and we all LOVE Mia!

Some information about her:
  • She was born June 19, 2013
  • She weighed a little over 3ll when we got her
  • Her mom's name is Obviously a Sweetheart and her Dad's name is Solid Rock (kinda funny, huh?)
  • She should weigh 12-15lb full grown
  • She had some salt and pepper brother and sisters in the pack 'n play with her (3 of them)
  • She is jet black with a small patch of grey hair on her chest
Her first night at our house went well.  She went straight to sleep, but woke up a few hours later needing to potty.  After she was put back in mom and dad's bathroom she cried and cried and howled and howled for ab out 25 minutes before she fell back to sleep.  She slept then until 5:45am when she started crying again.  After another potty trip she then cried and cried and screamed and screamed until 7am when mommy finally gave up and brought her in bed.  She loves cuddling with us and relaxing.

She is a really good girl!

Get ready for some ADORABLE puppy photos....

Here are some great pictures of our puppy in Pittsburg!  Nama Vicki, Papa Dick, Gigi and Gipa all got to play with her!  We went out to Bartos chicken house for dinner and I was SO sad to leave her at the house alone...especially as I heard her crying like crazy at the door!  After some tears (from me) I was okay to go out for a fun dinner!

After dinner everyone came back to Nama Vicki and Papa Dick's house and we got to play, play, play with the puppy and come up with lots of fun names.  Isn't she SO cute???!!!

BIG NEWS....WE GOT A DOG!

I got the BIGGEST surprise Ever yesterday....I got a DOG!  Dad told me that he, mom and I were going to Pittsburg for the day.  I was wondering why it was taking FOREVER to get there, but Dad just said we had to stop by some place to get something for Papa Dick and then take it to him in Pittsburg.  It seemed to make sense to me...so, I bought it!

We FINALLY (3 hours and 40 minutes later) arrived in some Missouri town at a building that looked like a log cabin. I asked mom why she was bringing in her BIG camera and she said it was to take pics of something for Papa Dick.  Well, we walked in and was SO confused.  There were pack 'n plays FULL of puppies.  Miniature Schnauzers, Boxers, yorkies...tons of puppies!  I asked Dad if we were getting Nama Vicki and Papa Dick a puppy. He did not reply, but brought me over to all the schnauzers.  I asked to hold some (and did),  but still did not know why we were there.  FINALLY Daddy asked me if I wanted to get a puppy and I was SO EXCITED!  I could not believe it!

We held some different one's, but I really loved the little 8 week old black girl miniature schnauzer.  She stretched on me and snuggled.  Mom and Dad LOVED her too....so, we decided she was the one!

The owner showed me some dog tricks with there dogs and that was really cool - one even jumps over he and my arms!  We hung out for awhile to pay and while our new puppy got some shots and a microchip put in her!

After that we loaded in the car, stopped at Walmart for a few bath towels for her to lay on and drove to Pittsburg.  It was such a fun drive thinking of puppy names and holding our new member of the FAMILY!

I LOVE her already!!!

Here are her 3 brother and sisters (all salt and pepper colored)!!!
