Trunk or Treat!

Tonight we went to my old preschool (and the Stilley's) church for a chili cook-off and trunk or treat.  Although it was a rainy, yucky night and Aunt Jenny's chili did not win an award, we had a FANTASTIC time!  We ate and went on a Halloween hunt throughout the church (no trunks this year).  They also had a live band and we all had lots of fun dancing like crazy!  I LOVE HALLOWEEN!!!!!

Last day of basketball!

Today was my very last day of basketball (and soccer).  I had such a fun season of fall sports, but am looking forward to a break (okay, mom and dad are the one's really looking forward to the break)!  I really loved basketball and got pretty good at it!  Today at practice coach even told the boys to watch how I shot the ball and "exploded at the basket"....pretty cool!  I scored lots of baskets and really had a lot of FUN!

Looking forward to basketball next year!

MAP testing

All through my school years in Blue Valley schools I will be taking MAP tests.  Below are the results of my very first one which will serve as a baseline for the rest of my school years.

It was a tricky test for us kindergartens as we had to spend a lot of time on it and it was all done with head phones and a computer.

My results:
Math- I am in the 44-64th percentile range and just below district average
Reading- I am in the 61-92nd percentile range and above district average

They will test again at the end of the year.  It will be very cool to see where I am then and how much more I have learned!

Journal

We write journal entries in class.  We are told to draw detailed pictures and then write all about what the picture is below (and on the back).  Although I don't know how to write sentences yet, this helps me to get there and by the end of the school year I will be writing sentences!

This is a picture of me near a bench on a sunny day.

First Report Card and conference!!

This week marked the end of the first quarter of Kindergarten!  Hard to believe I have been in school long enough to get a report card, but I have!

Mom and Dad were very proud of my first report card!

Mom and Dad also went to my very first school conference with Mrs. Richardson this week.  They talked all about my development and contribution to the class.  Here are the headlines:
- I am a very sweet girl and gets along well with her classmates
-I am doing really well in school.  Mrs. Richardson says I am right where I need to be.
- I am in the advanced reading group, which means I work out of some more challenging books and curriculum to speed up my reading pace
- I can identify all my letters and numbers up to 20
- I can write all my letters well, but am still developing writing my numbers 10-20
- I am respectful, follow directions and am responsible
- I love playing with my friends and really love unstructured play time (recess is my FAVORITE)
- I am going to work on active listening as I sometimes would rather talk to my friends (Addison, etc) or hug them than focus on what is going on!!!
-I am going to work on the details and producing quality work.  Mrs. Richardson says I am often done with assignments quick.  I will tell her I am done and she will ask me to add a bit more detail to the work (if it is a drawing).  She says I will look at her with big eyes, tuck my hair behind my ear and say, "okay", then head back to add more details!

Mom and dad asked what we should be working on at home and she said just read together and ask lots of questions on comprehension as that will help as I become a reader.  She also said writing all the time (even if I am not spelling real words) helps with reading.  She said if I sound out words and write how I think they are spelled that would be a great exercise.  I am excited to try all of that!

Halloween Party at Dance!

We had a Halloween party at dance class this week and it was really fun!  First we performed our Halloween dances for the parents.  We did "The Monster Mash" and a few others.  The parents got to come into the room to watch and I loved having both mommy and daddy come see me.

Then we went to the main building and got to watch the big ballerinas do a Halloween performance for us.  After that we had our own Halloween candy exchange and little party!  It was really fun.

I was a fairy!!

Last night!

We had a super fun family night last night!  It started with us exploring Nebraska Furniture Mart looking for stuff we would need for the basement.  After that we went to Outback Steakhouse for dinner and then we went to Dave & Buster's to play lots of cool games!  I had never been there before, but Daddy was right....it was Chuck-e-Cheese for bigger kids and grown ups and I loved it!

I played skeet ball, drive a race car, raced some horses and played all sorts of cool stuff!  It was a really fun night and I can't wait to go back!

Trophy!!!

Today I got my FIRST EVER trophy at soccer!  I was so excited I could barely stand it!  It made this soccer season so cool!  I loved the trophy so much that I took it to basketball practice and to lunch!  It is going to have a special spot - displayed on my bedside table!
