Someone is going to freak out...

Don't tell Kate, but Oscar (my sourcing agent in Hong Kong) was able to find her Shopkins direct from China.  The guys at the factory told me to make sure no one put them in their mouth!!!  Hmm...do you think they are knockoffs??!!  They look good to me though!!  I'm bringing home 2 bags of 50 Shopkins each!!  They appear to be duplicates in each bag, so 50 for Kate!!  Bet no one else at TCE has these!!!! ;)
She is going to flip!

Molecular ice cream!!!

For dessert we had ice cream made from liquid nitrogen! They pour cream, mixins and liquid nitrogen into a mixer.  It starts to freeze and creates little clouds in the air where they make it.  In a few minutes you have tasty ice cream!  I ordered cookie and cream and it was yummy!

Korean Barbeque

This trip has been short, but I've tried more types of Asian foods now than I ever had in a trip!  I've had Chinese (twice), Japanese and Korean!  Now just have to eat Thai and Vietnamese tomorrow!!!

I have never had Kirean bbq before and it was interesting. There is a round grill built into your table and you cook your own meat.  There are lots of sauces and vegetables to eat with it.  I try to stay away from fresh uncooked veggies and ice when in China and I'm a bit nervous as it was near impossible to not have some of it tonight...hope I don't get sick!!

Grace is Korean and asked I not judge Korean food by our Chibese version of Korean tonight! She did not think it was good or authentic!!  I don't think I'd put it on my top list of favorites either...especially the lamb...no thank you!

I asked if they had knives for the short ribs and steak so we could cut it and guess what....?  You cut the meat with scissors in a Korean bbq....how cool!

Hot pot lunch!

Today we were at the ceramics factory in southern China and were able to go out for lunch at this authentic Chinese hot pot restaurant.  I had never had a hot pot meal before and it was really good...especially the noodles!  Our table basically cooks everything in this broth hot pot and then the hosts served us!

It was really interesting as all the serving pieces, cup and chop sticks were all at the table covered in plastic wrap.  Before we ate our hosts actually opened and then washed everything in boiling water to sanitize it!!  It was crazy, but glad they did it!  The third picture below shows them doing it.

The food we then all cooked one meat at a time with us eating in small bowls as each meat was prepared.  They has a great soy sauce mixture for filling that you could spice up on your own and we all drank a Chinese Apple soda that tasted like cider!

I would definitely do a hot pot again!  Really fun and tasty!!
