Family Cruise: Day 4

Today we stopped in St. Kitts.  This island was our families least favorite of all our stops...although still an amazing day.  It could have been what we choose to do or the fact that Tropical Storm Karen stirred up the waters not making them very clear on this island.

We started the day by searching for sea glass.  The Weninger's are huge sea glass hunters and have an amazing collection.  Mom was super excited for this.  It turns out that the grosses beaches have the best sea glass and we found a gross beach with a TON of sea glass.  There were huge pieces everywhere and some people were in heaven.  Dad and I were not in heaven.  It was super hot and sunny and there was no way we were getting in the gross water.  After a short time he and I headed back to the ship to swim in the pool until everyone met us on the ship for lunch.  The rest of them had a blast finding tons of sea glass and even marbles.  Mom was in heaven with her treasures!

After lunch on the ship most of us headed out to the island again and went to Shipwreck beach bar for the rest of the afternoon. The sand on the beach was kinda black and the water was not clear.  It felt like a lake to me and I just was not really into it.  After some coaxing, I finally got in the water and had lots of fun.  We had a tropical drink at the beach bar and then headed back to the ship.

When we got back on the ship we headed to the wave pool where I was able to learn how to knee board.  It was so fun!

That night we had our normal dinner in the dining room where Willow and I ordered what became our nightly tradition of "escargot minus the escargot" (although they always brought it with the snails) and we dipped our bread into the yummy garlic butter!

We were then in for a hilarious and intense performance by a crazy mens group from Spain.  It was hilarious and we were right in the front row for all the crazy and even had sweat dripped on us numerous times!  HA!

Family Cruise: Day 3

This was our first cruise stop....in St. Maarten. We were able to see the island once we woke up and went out on our balcony.  The balcony was a nice add to our room making it bigger and being able to see where we were at all time.

St. Maarten was a very pretty island and we spent the day at Mullet Bay and Maho Beach.  We layed out, swam and had a blast at Mullet Bay. The water and sand was perfect!  There was a beach BBQ hut where we had lunch and enjoyed the day.

We stopped at Maho Beach on the way back to the cruise ship.  While the waters had turned and there was not much of a beach, we were able to sit on the ledge near the rocks and watch the planes come in.  The beach is right before the airport runway and you can sit and have an experience of your life as the large jets land right over your head!!  It was quite the experience!

We did a little shopping at the cruise port and then headed back to the ship to get cleaned up for formal dinner.

While Willow, Dane and I explored the ship and had fun, mom, dad, Donna and Kathleen met the Captain at a champagne event and explored on their own.  We all met for a very yummy formal dinner.

To complete the evening we went to the show where we got to order a pina colada!  When we got back to the room I was surprised with a towel animal in the shape of Lambie!!

An amazing day!

Family Cruise: Day 2

This was the day we boarded the cruise ship and boy were we excited.  We were on the Freedom of the Seas ship which is part of the Royal Caribbean fleet.  It was such a HUGE ship- it was like its own small town!  We got onto the ship about 11:30am and had the whole day to explore and get settled.  We started with lunch at the Windjammer Buffet and were pleasantly surprised with SO MANY choices!  There were plenty of food items (and desserts....oh so yummy desserts) to tempt you, but also health choices for mom and dad to make better choices!

We explored the pool, the arcade, the ice skating rink, saw the rock climbing wall, the surfing pool, put put golf course, shopping area, bars, restaurants, casino and all the ship had to offer.

That night was our first evening at for dinner in the dining room and we loved the choices and the ability to order as much food as you want....or lots of appetizers instead of main course...and multiple desserts to just try them!!  We got to know our waitress and waiter and loved "our table"....it was the same one every night.

That evening we had our first experience with the evening entertainment and loved the show.

Our room was small, but we had plenty of room for storage and to be comfortable.  My bed pulled down from the ceiling and I slept right above mom and dad.  It took mom and dad some getting used to and they had some trouble sleeping that first night in fear that I came crashing down on them!

Such a cool experience!

Family Cruise: Day 1

We were so excited for our cruise with the Weningers!  We flew into Puerto Rico and then cruised out and back into there.  On our first day we checked into our beautiful hotel right on the water and enjoyed a nice lunch on the beach.

We then met the Weninger's in Old SAn Juan for a Mexican dinner and a little exploring.  A fun start to the vacation!

Gift Card Scavenger Hunt...and a surprise

One day mom worked from home and after school we decided to have some fun before volleyball so mom sent us on a gift card scavenger hunt.  The game was to go through her gift card envelope and stop and shop only at places she had gift cards to.  We could buy what we want as long as we did not spend any money...only gift cards!  We had a blast and found the most treasures at Michaels...even Christmas presents!

After shopping we decided to use a coupon and eat at Unforked.  As we sat down at our table we noticed people taking photos of tons and tons of menu items.  All of the sudden a man walked over to us (we were the only one's there for a very early dinner) and offer us our choice of free concretes.  It turns out they were photographing every single item on the menu for social media needs.  That man brought us TONS and TONS of free desserts....even a free salad to take home.

What a fun day!
