Fairies!

I made 3 magic wands the other day at Nama's house.  It was such a cool craft project.  Nama, Mommy and I all took them to Ra Sushi.  We even pulled them out at the restaurant and did a fairy chant!  It was so cool!

I kept the star the whole time and Nama and mommy had to fight it out for the heart (the other option was a square)!!!

"Best Day Ever" Swing

I have finally mastered Nama's robe swing.  It was really tricky for me - I got nervous I would fall off.  After LOTS of trying (and falling down), I finally have it down!!  BEST DAY EVER!

P.S.  We call it "Best Day ever" swing because we feel like Rapunzel at the part of the movie she steps on the grass the first time and swings around saying "BEST DAY EVER"!

Chef Kate

Pizza Chef...at your service!  We picked up Papa Murphy's pizza the other day and I got the really cool kid pizza.  I was able to make it all myself and it was DELICIOUS!

VBS!!

This week was my last camp of the summer (bummer..I love summer camps)!  It was a week long camp at Stanley Presb. Church - where I went to preschool. We missed it last year as we were on vacation...I am sure happy we did not miss it this year because it was so much fun!  We did crafts, sang and danced and just had a ball!

Sydney, Hadley, Landry and Kaley were in my group....we had lots of fun playing together!  Here I am on blue day...don't I look like a BIG camp girl!?!

Practicing for Hawaii!!

Today Dad and I spent a lot of fun time at the pool.  Mom came by after her errands and brought my snorkeling gear to practice for all the fun snorkeling we will be doing in Hawaii!  This was the first time I have practiced in the pool and it was AWESOME! I was so amazed at seeing so clearly under water (even better than typical goggles).  I was even able to stay under water for 62 seconds!  That was amazing!

I can't wait to see all the amazing fish in Hawaii when we go snorkeling!

Second Cousins!!!

Last night we went over to Nama and Papa's for a party!  Gigi, Aunt Jenny, Uncle Rob, Anna, Ashley, Abby, mommy, daddy and I were so excited that Matt (mommy's cousin), Janet, Kensey, Michael, Luke and Matthew were all in town from Minnesota!  We had a great BBQ dinner and played TONS!

I really liked hanging out with Michael.  He is nine and I thought that was pretty cool. At dinner I sat by him and really wanted to talk to him.  I would tell him stuff like..."I just acted out today at a performance."  Want to see my rose?"  "I play soccer to."  It was just so cool to be with a big kid!

We played baseball, hung out downstairs with Papa and all his toys and just chilled.  It was awesome!  I am so glad they came into town!

No autographs please....

This week I was in Fairy Drama Camp with Anna.  Miss Jo was our drama teacher.  She taught us how to act and be an actress. Sometimes we would pretend to be things in the room (a chair, a flower, a table) and other times we would act out storybooks.  All the storybooks were about fairies!  It was really a great time...I loved it a lot!

Last night was our performance.  Nama, Papa, Aunt Jenny, Ashley, Abby, mommy and daddy all came to watch.  The other actresses also had family come...it was a big audience.  We warmed up by pretending to be things in the room (costumes, flowers and things like that), then it was time for the BIG performance.

We were each introduced by our fairy names.  I was Fairy Starburst and Anna was Tinker Bell.  We acted like fairies and collected dewdrops in our fairy pot.  It was fun.

Our second performance was from the book "The Midnight Fairies".  I was the leading lady and played the little girl, Meghan.  I acted with Miss Jo (who was playing my grandma).  I lost my necklace outside while spending the night at my grandma's house.  I realized it and when I looked out the window at midnight was introduced to the midnight fairies.  I got to fly with them and they even found my necklace.  Anna was a midnight fairy!!

At the end of each performance we got to bow...and everyone cheered for us!

Everyone was so proud of my acting skills.  I said all my lines when prompted and even spoke up nice and load so everyone could hear me.  It was really awesome!!

After the performance Anna and I got roses for being such great actresses!  It was so cool...my first ROSE ever!

Can't wait until I am in my next play!

A conversation with Kate - one to remember

Tonight Kate was not acting very nice and I told her she was going to have to sleep in her own room all night long (not a big punishment for the average kid, but a HUGE one for Kate). She of course lost it and through a total fit and then tried to rationalize with me on why she should sleep in our room.  She kept wanting to talk and reminded me to not interrupt her (which drive me even more crazy)...and it went on and on.  Basically, not a good 15 minutes.

Finally when she calmed down a bit I asked for her to explain to me why she was not nice and why she acted so mean.  She thought about it for a minute and then proceeded to tell the the following story for about 15-20 minutes.  I wish I had a tape recorder or video camera, because it was a classic and one I never want to forget.

It went something like this (with lots of repeating and dramatic pauses for crying - did I mention she is currently in a theater camp?)...kills me that I am missing a lot of the good parts:

"Mommy, I do not know why I act mean sometimes.  I just get mad.  It starts in my legs and works its way up.  I want to be nice and  try all the time.  I try to be nice all day and all night.  I tried to be nice tonight, but my legs wouldn't let me.

You know when you get that feeling in your legs and it creeps up and makes you so mad?  Well, that is what happens when I get mad.  It is not me mommy, it is my legs. I want to be nice, but sometimes my legs won't let me.  There must be something in my legs that make me mad.  I don't know magic or anything, so nothing must be in my legs...just bones.  Oh, why do my bones in my legs make me mad?  It is because of my legs that I get in trouble.

It is not me mommy.  I would be nice all the time if it was not for me legs."

Then she asked me:
"Mommy, do your legs every give you that feeling and make you mad and mean?

I said:
"I don't think that has ever happened to me"

Then she said:
"You mean I am the only person in the world that has legs like this?  (crying).  It is not fair.  I don't like that this only happens to me.  Why am I the only one?  (then I felt like I had to tell her that maybe other people have mad legs too....didn't want her to feel alone....heehee)

You see mommy, I am a nice girl.  It is my legs that are mean.  You can't really get mad at me. Get mad at my legs.

Can I sleep in your room now?"

CLASSIC!!  Needless to say, I was holding back the laughter during most of the conversation.  We ended it with talking about how the next time her legs make her mad and mean to find a special spot to relax and calm down until she was not mad anymore.  She said she would try, but that it would be hard.  She also hopes she remembers that because it is hard to remember everything I tell her.

I sure hope I don't forget this one!

Anne

P.S.  She is asleep in her own room as we speak!

Sfety City Camp

I am in a camp this week called "Safety City".  At safety city camp we learn all about safety and how to be safe. So far we have had a police man talk to use about all sorts of things - even about wearing seat belts. I keep going around and telling everyone "click it or ticket"!

We got to tour a school bus and learn all about school bus safety.  We played safety bingo, learned about germs and staying germ-free.

Later this week we will learn a bout fire safety and all sorts of other ways to stay safe!

It is a really fun camp.  I am lucky to be in class with lots of my friends!  I love hanging out with my friends!

Fairy Camp

I am in a new camp this year called Fairy Camp.  At fairy camp we learn how to be actresses.  It is really cool!  i am so lucky that my cousin Anna is in camp with me. At camp our teacher reads us a story and then we learn how to play the parts in the story.  The story is called" Midnight Fairy" it is about a girl named Meghan who loses her necklace and the fairies helps her find it.

We get to perform that for everyone on Friday. Guess what?  I am the lead actress - Meghan!!!!  Anna is an awesome fairy!  I am SO EXCITED!  I will not tell mom and dad about fairy camp. I tell them they will just have to wait to see the performance on Friday.  Don't worry - we will video tape it!

Fun day with Nama Vicki, Papa Dick, Gigi and Gipa!!

We took the mini van to Pittsburg this weekend to see Nama Vicki, Papa Dick, Gigi and Gipa.  After a yummy lunch at the Mall Deli we all headed to Joplin to go to this really cool outdoor carnival.  It was SO cool!  I chose Papa Dick as the person to ride the rides with me (I had to pick one as the passes were pretty expensive).  Papa Dick and I rode all sorts of fun rides: the roller coaster (lots of times), the carousel, the really cool slides, the ferris wheel and even a CRAZY ride called "whiplash".  That crazy ride made Papa feel a little crazy.  I convince mommy to ride it once and she also felt a little crazy - I don't understand the problem with that ride. It was my favorite!!

After the fun-filled afternoon of rides and fun we went to the Joplin mall and walked around and then headed back to Kansas City.  I love going to Pittsburg!
