Germaine's Luau

At first mom and dad were not going to sign us up for a luau as the one's on Oahu did not get the compare to the one they went to on Maui (so the reviews said) and they were really expensive, but thank goodness they changed their minds because it was a highlight of our trip for me!

On our first night we went to dinner at Bennihana an sat next to a family who was celebrating their last day on the island.  Lucky for us, we got lots of tips from them...one being cheap luau tickets if you buy them at the Aloha Swap meet.  Since we wanted to get the deal and go to the luau, we headed to the swap meet on Wednesday - we don't have any pictures, but I got lots of souvenirs for very cheap and we had a tasty shave ice.  The best news is that mom and dad managed to get all 3 of us luau tickets for $30....can you believe that?  They made a deal (and had to sit through a few hours of some people trying to sell them something) and it was worth every penny of the $300 savings.  Oh, they also through in a case of chocolate covered macadamia nuts because mom and dad drive a hard bargain!  (fyi...treats for all of you guys)!!!

Well, after sitting through the sales promotion (I sat through it too) we had our tickets in hand and were signed up for the luau that very night!

After we went on a fairly long bus ride with the other luau guests we arrived.  They look a picture of our family on the beach (see last picture) and then we grabbed an amazing table for the show!  I had my first pina colada and mom and dad got some islandy drinks and we were set!

We got to meet lots of the hula dancers, got to go on stage to learn how to hula (I will show you guys, it is really cool), eat dinner and watch a really cool luau performance.  There were great dancers, singers and even a guy who juggled and ate fire!  It was AMAZING and I am so glad we went!

Our seat was so great that I could sit on the picnic bench and had the show right in front of us!  We were really lucky to have such a great night!

Love,
Kate
